Coworking Spaces

Coworking Spaces.

Today we’re going to talk about Coworking spaces. What are they and why are they useful to one traveling abroad?

Coworking spaces are places where companies or individuals or groups from different companies can go to work and share resources. These spaces commonly have desks, wifi, and outlets to plug in your laptops – a bit like starbucks or some cafés that have sectioned-off spaces that have outlets for laptops but focused on work not food. Due to this, regulars at these coworking spaces can form a type of community. For groups in small companies, it can be a nice central meeting place for them to work and share ideas without needing their own office space.

So why are these good for people traveling abroad?  For Digital Nomads and others who work online while traveling abroad, they’re useful to meet new people in similar situations. These people can help you with your specific issues. While Argentines can tell you about safety, and food recommendations and many other things, they won’t be able to tell you how to do your paperwork at migrations, set up your paperwork for taxes, recommendations on currency exchange, etc. In addition, these coworking spaces can also be more integrated into the local populace, which is part of what Experience Baires wants to do with its coworking spaces. Many immigrants, expats, and Digital Nomads gravitate towards neighborhoods where there is a higher concentration of people from their same culture (a sort of bubble) and then end up having a hard time integrating into Argentinian society and getting the full cultural experience Argentina has to offer.

With a coworking space that isn’t in a bubble, one can get the benefits of meeting both people in similar situations and have interaction with Argentinians, also. This is good for cultural and language exchange. And another small, but perhaps important, detail for people traveling abroad is that commonly people who travel abroad rent a singular room, or a hostel, or an airbnb. All of which have other people constantly around you. It’s not a good work environment. Coworking spaces are meant to facilitate work for the individual by being quiet, calm places and for groups where they can talk (in their indoor voices) and exchange ideas.

For your search for a coworking space in Argentina, they also use the term coworking, so you should be able to find them wherever you’re living, inside or outside of Greater Buenos Aires.
