What to Do in Buenos Aires in 24 Hours: The Perfect Itinerary

What to do in Buenos Aires in 24 hours is a common question for travelers with limited time. The good news is that Buenos Aires offers the perfect mix of culture, gastronomy, walking experiences, wine, and shopping—all in just one day. With the right itinerary, you can experience the essence of the city from morning to night.

Morning: Culture and Iconic Landmarks

Start your day early with a walk through the historic center. Begin at the Plaza de Mayo, the political and historical heart of the city, surrounded by landmarks like the Casa Rosada and the Metropolitan Cathedral of Buenos Aires.

From there, continue your morning with a museum visit at the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes in Recoleta, where you can explore impressive collections of Argentine and international art.

Midday: Gastronomy and Local Flavors

After a cultural morning, it’s time to enjoy Buenos Aires’ world-famous food. Choose a traditional parrilla and try an authentic Argentine lunch with classics like asado or bife de chorizo, paired with a glass of Malbec.

For a more casual option, you can explore local cafés and enjoy empanadas or a picada in neighborhoods like San Telmo or Palermo.

Afternoon: Walking Tour and Shopping

In the afternoon, take a walking tour to explore the character of the city. Stroll through the cobblestone streets of San Telmo, where history, street art, and local markets create a unique atmosphere.

Then, head to Palermo for a shopping experience. Discover local designer stores, boutiques, and artisan shops where you can find unique Argentine products.

Evening: Wine and Relaxation

As the day winds down, it’s time to enjoy one of Argentina’s greatest treasures: wine. Buenos Aires is full of wine bars and rooftop experiences where you can taste different varieties, including Malbec and Torrontés.

A wine tasting experience is the perfect way to relax, reflect on your day, and enjoy the city’s sophisticated nightlife.

Night: The Perfect Ending

Finish your 24-hour itinerary with a final walk through the city. Whether it’s along Avenida Corrientes with its theaters and lights or a quiet stroll through Recoleta, Buenos Aires at night offers a magical atmosphere.

Spending 24 hours in Buenos Aires is enough to fall in love with the city. From cultural landmarks and museums to gastronomy, walking tours, wine, and shopping, every moment can be filled with unforgettable experiences.

What is Lorem Ipsum? Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum. Why do we use it? It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for 'lorem ipsum' will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).
