Tourism in The Paris of South America

First, let me clarify where I’m talking about. Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, Capital Federal, or simply Buenos Aires has many nicknames including the Queen of Silver and the Paris of South America. The abbreviations CABA, Bs As, and Baires are frequently used, especially to distinguish from the province of the same name. In this article I’ll be using Buenos Aires and the capital to be referring to this city. Tourism. Buenos Aires is an extraordinarily important city to Argentina. It’s Argentina’s administrative district like Washington, D.C. is to the US, but also a cultural center like New York. This makes it akin to Paris, which is both the administrative and cultural capital of France, one of the reasons it’s called the Paris of South America. The other reasons would be its tree-lined streets, cobblestone streets, architecture, sidewalk cafés, museums, and parks. It’s for this reason that Buenos Aires is such a wonderful city to do touristic activities. Buenos Aires has many museums including art museums, historical museums, science museums, a street museum, and even boat museums. If you time it right, there’s even a night of the museum in late October where you can go to any museum for free. Buenos Aires is also home to many theaters and one of the most famous theaters in the world: Teatro Colón. Also if you need a break from the cement of the city, there are many parks. There are many cultural experiences to be had from tango to concerts to even Argentina’s equestrian heritage. Palermo is home to a horse racing course and a polo field (where they also play Pato, Argentina’s national sport). There are even some tango classes offered in English. Argentine cuisine is also something that must be tried by anyone who comes here. Beyond asado, Argentina’s famous grilled meat, you’re also going to want to try the delicious pastries and Argentina’s street food which includes empanadas and choripan. There are many guided tours of various museums, theaters, and places in the city. Some are free and some have a price. And even some are in English like those of Experience Baires. So when you’re looking up tours, check to see if they have an English option. And this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the things you can do in Buenos Aires. I hope you can come and join Experience Baires’ tours!
